Island Resort Championship to serve as final stop of The Pure Michigan Cup

HARRIS, Mich. (WJMN/WBUP) – The Island Resort Championship continues to host some of the most talented golfers you’ll find on any course. 2025 marks the 14th year for the tournament at Sweetgrass Golf Club. This June LPGA rising stars will put their talent to the test in the Upper Peninsula.

The tournament is part of the Epson Tour – Road to the LPGA and brings in top golfers from around the globe. 144 players will compete for a $225,000 purse and a chance to qualify for the LPGA Tour. The winner will take home a trophy, a tribal honor quilt handmade by an elder of the Hannahville Indian Community, and a check for $33,750.

“Our volunteers return year after year; their energy is always high,” said Tony Mancilla, Tournament Co-chairman. “We have golfers from all over the world, so our employees get excited about it. And the players keep getting better. The first year, -7 won, last year -17 won. I really believe, if you golf or if you have kids, you don’t want to miss it.”

The Epson Tour has three tournaments in Michigan this year. In collaboration with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), these three tournaments are part of The Pure Michigan Cup. There will be some additional prize money for the top-three point earners with a special trophy ceremony at the Island Resort Championship as the finale to the trio of tournaments.
