Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteers will play a crucial role in the success of the Great Lakes Championship. A dedicated team of knowledgeable individuals who understand the value of hospitality, take pride in executing their responsibilities, and remember to enjoy the experience will help make this event exceptional for all involved. Our goal is to make this the most successful and memorable Epson Tour stop of the year – year after year – and a strong volunteer team will be key to achieving that.

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS AVAILABLE:

Cart Scorers follow a group of players in a cart for the entire round as an unofficial scorekeeper. During the round, they keep unofficial scores for each player in their group, and, after every hole, cart scorers send scores to Central Scoring via a two-way radio provided by the Tour. Volunteers needed FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY.

Marshals assist with minimizing the potential distractions caused by fans attending the tournament. They also direct cart traffic in heavily congested areas or on blind approaches to a tee, fairway or green. Volunteers needed FRIDAY, SATURDAY, & SUNDAY.

Parking Attendant will monitor entry to the Clubhouse parking reserved for Players, Hotel Guests and Staff. Volunteers needed FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY.

Player Registration volunteers register players and distribute any week specific information to players. Volunteers are needed on TUESDAY.

Player Services attendant will make sure only those with proper credentials enter the Player/Caddie only room and notify F & B if running low on products. Make sure the room remains tidy and orderly.

Scoring Tent volunteers verify each scorecard in the Scoring Tent after the player has completed their round. Volunteers needed FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY.

Scorecard Runners transport official score cards and stat cards from the Scoring Tents to an area designated by Epson Tour officials after each group completes their round. Volunteers needed FRIDAY, SATURDAY, and SUNDAY.

Scoring Central Computer Operator enters the scores and statistics that have been recorded by the Radio Operator (described below). The data collected is entered into a laptop computer. This position requires dexterity and basic computer knowledge. The Central Scoring Radio Operator answers radio calls from the Cart Driver who is following each group on the course. The Cart Driver provides the scores for each player after every hole to Scoring Central. The Radio Operator records this information on a form provided by the Tour. This information is then entered into a computer by the Computer Operator (described above). The data is then automatically uploaded to the Internet. Volunteers needed FRIDAY, SATURDAY, & SUNDAY.

Shuttle Drivers will transport volunteers and spectators to and from remote parking to Clubhouse area. May also be requested to help with golf course evacuation if necessary.

Special Event volunteers assist the tournament committee with the management of the various events held prior to tournament play. Example: Pro-Am and Clinics. Volunteers are needed on WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY.

Spotters act as “forecaddies” or “advance scouts” by assisting the professionals in locating wayward golf shots. Stationed near a fairway or a green, spotters watch each shot and help locate a ball in situations where the player may not have a clear view of the ball’s final resting position. Volunteers are needed FRIDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY.

VIP Services will be stationed at the VIP Pavilion to meet & greet guests and check credentials. It will also be necessary to be sure the Pavilion tables and area in general are free of refuse and welcoming as there is guest turnover.

Volunteer Caddie: Volunteer will be connected with a Professional that requests a caddie. Volunteers will use a pushcart or carry the Professionals clubs for 18 holes during all three tournament rounds. Advice for play is to be given upon request ONLY. Volunteer Caddie needs to be available Friday, Saturday & Sunday. If your player does not make the cut and is not playing on Sunday, you can be reassigned to a different volunteer role.

Volunteer Services: These volunteers greet and register other volunteers, provide general information, and assist with shuttling volunteers to/from their assigned area. Also assist with setup and distribution of volunteer lunches. Volunteers needed, FRIDAY, SATURDAY, & SUNDAY
